One affiliate will be chosen as the 18th man and will be allowed to sit on the 1&1 boat during this qualifying race.
1&1 Internet, Inc., a web hosting company, today announced that it is taking the top three Sales Affiliates to Valencia, Spain, June 21-24, site of the Louis Vuitton Act 12, a pre-qualifying yacht race for the America's Cup in 2007.
Once in Spain, U.S. affiliates will join their English, French and German counterparts and meet crew members of United Internet Team Germany. In the 2007 summer, twelve international sailing syndicates will battle for the 32nd America's Cup which was won by Switzerland in 2003. One affiliate will be chosen as the 18th man and will be allowed to sit on the 1&1 boat during this qualifying race. Racing tradition states that every competing boat must carry 100 kilograms (220 lbs.) or an 18th man that is not part of the crew, said the company.
"This is a tremendous opportunity to show our affiliates how much we appreciate their contribution to our business," said 1&1 Chairman Andreas Gauger. "In addition to meeting the crew of this high-tech yacht, they will take a sea tour and enjoy local culture and entertainment. More importantly they will be able to share their experiences and strengthen their bonds with 1&1."
