Free on 1&1's Beginner, Home, Business and Developer packages; it is available through the Control Panel.
1&1 Internet, Inc., a web hosting company, today announced that it is offering a tool which creates Real Simple Syndication (RSS) feed and displays it on a Web site.
According to the company, it is the first web hosting company to provide the service. The main feature of the tool is that it allows customers to create their own content such as news for a Web site, use the 1&1 Dynamic Content Catalog to show third-party news, create a podcast or create a photocast in combination with 1&1 Photo Gallery. The EasyRSS feature is free on 1&1's Beginner, Home, Business and Developer packages.
"We are offering this feature now because we truly believe our customers will find this to be an incredibly useful tool," said John Cook, General Manager, 1&1. "Right now, most major news sites use this tool. However, we see RSS trickling down to the consumer and small businesses. For instance, a little league coach disseminating the team's current batting averages and other statistics. In addition, it's an ideal tool for podcasting and photocasting, which is very popular right now."
