Launches dotpound.com; free of listings and transaction fees.
4Domains, Inc., an ICANN accredited domain registrar, announced today that they have launched their Domain Auction site DotPound.com.
This domain auction site is free of listings and transaction fees. According to John Palmer, CTO of 4Domains, it is important to motivate the demand for registering, selling and buying domain names for an industry that has profitability for both the buyer and seller. He finally rolled this site out since his development staff had been working on it for quite some time and the beneficiary of this service has been a moving target.
"We look at this site as a monument to the industry for providing a free service maintained by an ICANN Accredited Registrar to benefit the entire registrar and web hosting industry," said Chuck Steinberger, CEO of 4Domains, a wholly owned subsidiary of SEInc. "Our motivation initially for this site was to offer some of our larger domain customers an exit strategy for their large domain holdings. But as the project grew we realized that we could also increase the demand for registering new domain names and buying expired domain names if we provided a free auction service."
