Yesterday at Networld+Interop 2004 in Las Vegas, 8e6 Technologies introduced their newest product, TurboPipe NP. This advanced network monitoring and management tool allows easy control of network resources by guaranteeing bandwidth to mission-critical applications.
TurboPipe NP is an appliance-based solution that monitors network traffic and can implement service level agreements that dynamically allocate available bandwidth to specific essential applications. This is accomplished at the expense of network traffic bringing little or no value to the business.
"We're pleased to add TurboPipe to our product line," said Eric Lundbohm, Vice President of Marketing at 8e6. "Improving employee productivity and preserving network bandwidth have long been two of our key value propositions to our customers and TurboPipe adds significantly to those values."
One of 8e6's first customers for TurboPipe NP is Belkin Corporation, the global leader in connectivity solutions. "Our commitment to customer service requires that we proactively manage bandwidth to ensure priority for customer facing systems on our mixed-use, global IP network," said James McCarthy, Director of Information Services for Belkin. "The TurboPipe NP product from 8e6 enables the network resilience we need."
There are two components to TurboPipe NP. The TurboPipe NP engine is an appliance deployed between a LAN and router at strategic "choke points." The TurboPipe console, a Windows-based management center, monitors and controls network performance in real time by controlling any number of TurboPipe engines deployed throughout an enterprise network.
"We found the TurboPipe NP product to be both powerful and easy to use," said John Adcock, Network Services Manager at Belkin Corporation. "We're currently rolling out a dozen TurboPipe engines throughout our WAN infrastructure to provide the network bandwidth usage monitoring and control we need to optimize use of expensive data lines. These will be controlled from our headquarters location in Southern California."
The TurboPipe NP appliance is currently shipping in two models; the T100, designed for network connections up to 10 megabits and the T450, designed for up to 45 megabit connections. 8e6 has additional models in development for both smaller and larger network connections. The T100 model lists for $11,995 and the T450 model lists for $17,995.
