Will provide connections over a dedicated DWDM core network between locations in the NYC/NJ Metro from March 1, 2006.
AboveNet, Inc., a metro network access provider for businesses, recently announced the launch of dcXchange, a data center to data center service delivering connections over a dedicated DWDM core network between prime locations in the NYC/NJ Metro.
The company says that the dcXchange is a pre-provisioned service delivering DWDM, SONET and Gig E connections for enterprise, carrier and indirect sales customers. Supported by AboveNet's Global Network Management Center, dcXchange offer simplicity and flexibility to support a broad range of applications from media and expanding wireless to financial interconnection needs. dcXchange will be available in New York City from March 1, 2006 with follow on cities to be announced shortly.
AboveNet says that it is targeting applications requiring high bandwidth, quick install times and circuit portability for customers coming across the shifting business climates, and the increasing health of the general economy.
"The success of well known IP based content and information service companies such as Google and Yahoo delivering Location Based Services are driving carriers to seek innovative solutions to meet growing bandwidth needs and the aggregation of traffic that does not follow traditional patterns", said John Deering, Director of Carrier Sales for AboveNet.
