Connects 1&1's newest data center with a number of Internet bandwidth providers, carrier hotels, and network hubs in Kansas City.
American Fiber Systems,
provider of data networks to carriers and large enterprises, has
completed a metropolitan fiber network in the Kansas City metropolitan
area for 1&1 Internet Inc., a web hosting provider.
The metropolitan fiber network connects 1&1's newest data
center, located in Lenexa, KS, with a number of Internet bandwidth
providers, carrier hotels, and network hubs in Kansas City, Missouri.
American Fiber Systems built a four-node, point-to-point, metro fiber
circuit, which included three telecommunications points-of-presence
already on the company's network in the Kansas City metro area.
"We selected AFS to connect our brand new Lenexa data center with low
latency to leading ISPs through state-of-the-art connectivity. The AFS
line will be an important element for our service level promise of
99.99% availability and is essential in bolstering our redundancy and
achieving market-leading connectivity," contends Andreas Gauger, Chairman of 1&1 Internet Inc.
"1&1
opened a fully-automated data center in Lenexa in early 2007, and the
entire team at American Fiber Systems knew that completing this project
on time was critical," said Mike Rosato, Senior Director-carrier sales
for American Fiber Systems.
