Applicure Technologies, a provider of advanced application security solutions for the Web environment, yesterday announced the release of dotDefender 2.1 - an advanced security solution that analyzes incoming HTTP requests and blocks embedded attacks from penetrating the web environment.
dotDefender 2.1 is a software-based solution that deploys quickly on the web server with a preconfigured, automatically updated rule set that enables it to protect the web environment immediately upon installation with virtually no administrator intervention. dotDefender 2.1 supports Apache, IIS, and Sun Java System (iPlanet) Web servers. Supported operating systems include RPM-based Linux (e.g. RedHat or SUSE), Fedora, Debian, FreeBSD, Solaris 8/9/10 and Microsoft Windows.
Based on Applicure's TotalShield technology, dotDefender's attack protection system is continually updated via the web, ensuring up-to-date protection against the latest web attacks and attack sources. dotDefender can also serve as the first stage of a full-fledged deployment of TotalShield for the enterprise - Applicure's full-powered security and compliance solution.
"Denial of service is the top source of financial loss due to cyber crime in recent years. According to the NHTCU, computer crime cost UK businesses more than GBP2.4 billion last year", said Omer Golan, VP Marketing & Business Development of Applicure Technologies. "We, in Applicure, see it as a mission to make cyber crime obsolete through standardization of security for web servers and databases. This is possible with the use of low maintenance and cost-effective software, which will replace complicated and expensive hardware solutions available today."
