Introduces anti-phishing and identity assurance tool; Establishing Trust initiative makes CVC technology available to security providers.
Comodo, an online security provider, yesterday announced the launch of its patent pending anti-phishing and identity assurance technology, Verification Engine(Vengine), available freely to toolbar providers and security solutions providers.
Available as an extension to Internet Explorer, the Vengine meshes with 3rd party tool bars such as the eBay, Alexa and Google. According to the company, the CVC architecture is similar to the SSL based e-commerce framework used today by e-commerce providers. However, where the SSL underpins the framework of the Internet, CVCs provide trust in the actual content flowing across that framework.
"What we've effectively achieved is to transfer the success of the hologram for identity assurance on to the Internet, allowing providers large and small a method to establish trust with their customers," said Steve Roylance, Vice President of Global Technical Marketing for Comodo.
