Comodo, a Certification Authority and security company, recently launched UserTrust, a free social authentication platform for eMerchants. Launched earlier this year, the company states that UserTrust feedback platform is a free technology platform that has been adopted by eMerchants as their 'viral marketing in a box' technology platform.

The company also states that market research firm eMarketer predicts that U.S. spending on social networks will exceed $1.6 billion this year. Social networks and viral marketing are increasingly being recognized for their ability to tap into people's feedback as a conversion tool which helps drives revenue.

In addition the company explained that the current online marketing programs often rely heavily on targeting consumers via online advertising, hoping the ads reach the best demographic possible to influence their buying decisions. It also adds that this approach has limited success and value because it is both costly and hard to manage. Furthermore, as the BusinessWeek stated, online advertising effectiveness has been declining.
