TeleCity (LSE: TCY.L), the award-winning pan European data centre services company, announced that the US hosting company, DataPipe Managed Hosting Services, has signed a three year contract to take a dedicated suite of space and IP services to house its critical server infrastructure at TeleCity’s London Docklands facility.
Since DataPipe started providing web hosting and managed services in 1996, the company has rapidly expanded across the United States and has been providing service in Europe since 2001. Due to the success of the European operation, DataPipe identified a requirement for an expanded, dedicated data centre facility. The company will use its facilities at TeleCity to offer its European customers managed services such as high availability server clustering, global load balancing, data security and data storage and backup.
DataPipe attributes much of its success to its emphasis on providing maximum uptime and industry leading customer service. Consequently, they considered TeleCity to be the obvious choice of partner when looking for a data centre services operator to manage their IT infrastructure in Europe. In February of this year TeleCity was awarded the ISPA’s ‘Colocation Provider of the Year’ award, which recognised the company’s dedication to providing high levels of customer service.
“As part of our programme of growth in Europe we considered it vital to partner with a trustworthy data centre provider so that we could concentrate on the imperatives of managing and developing our business in the region,” said Robb Allen, CEO at DataPipe. “We are confident that with TeleCity we will get a highly personalised service, including guaranteed 24/7 response times.”
Rick Hudson, CEO of TeleCity commented: “We are very glad that DataPipe has chosen TeleCity on the basis of our data centre management expertise. We have extensive experience in assisting companies based outside of Europe to develop a successful presence in the European market, having helped a large number of international telecoms, hosting and enterprise businesses launch and grow across the region. In fact, around 40 per cent of TeleCity’s revenues originate from businesses outside of the countries in which we operate.”
The success of DataPipe in the US and in Europe is further indication that the wider markets for hosting and data centre services are returning to positive growth, encouraging US-based ISPs and web hosters to once again explore overseas development and expansion. Recent research on end-user spending on data centre and hosting services from industry analysts Infonetics and Frost and Sullivan predicted US and European markets to show a CAGR to 2007 of between 10 to 30 per cent respectively.
“I am confident that TeleCity will provide the right platform for DataPipe to replicate their US success in Europe as we see the European market for hosting and data centre services improve,” continued Hudson. “TeleCity has a good understanding of the business requirements of a web hosting provider, particularly the importance of 100% uptime, and we are confident that our engineers and personnel have the skills in place to help support DataPipe’s business and aid their ongoing development in Europe.”
