Launches pre-registrations of .EU domains in collaboration with a British Company; in presence of the Ambassador Ramiro Cibrian-Uzal.
Domain The Net, an ICANN accredited registrar, today announced that it has launched the pre-registration of .EU domain names.
The company says that it has decided to set a registration fee of
only EUR15 (per year), as in many cases it will be used in addition to
a company's original domain. This service is provided in collaboration
with a British company, which registers the domains in its own name and
then leases it to interested companies.
Registration of .EU domain names is intended for companies and
organizations with a presence in one of the EU countries, or for
residents of these countries. Company claims that the use of a .EU
domain is important both for the EU companies and for companies outside
the EU, to create their Internet presence in the European market.
Additionally, the registration of a .EU domain is extremely important
for companies that want to protect their brand names and their
intellectual property.
"The launch of .EU is the end of a process led by the European
Union, and which one of its aims is to help companies from all over the
world to better integrate their activities in EU countries," commented
Ambassador Ramiro Cibrian-Uzal, European Commission's delegation in
Israel, who was present at the launch.
