Involves a complete switch to Apache which improves integration between the company's servers and control panels.
Eleven2, a provider of shared, reseller, VPS and dedicated hosting, today announced it has switched from Litespeed to Apache web server. The platform change provides better integration between the company's servers and the popular Web hosting control panel technology, cPanel.
The company articulates that the switch back to Apache enables Eleven2 to better manage the nearly 60,000 websites it currently hosts. The company has already transitioned most customers to the new platform without any service disruption or changes in application performance. Litespeed was designed to be compatible with Apache.
The switch also empowers customers to more easily control their Ruby on Rails applications through Eleven2's exclusive control panel customizations. PHP developers will also benefit. In addition to the Ruby on Rails-related control panel customizations, Eleven2 is also able to deliver the latest PHP updates and install custom modules for customers, says the company.
"Without Apache, our clients were unable to take advantage of many advanced management features that are available with cPanel integration. It is important we offer a platform that delivers on our promise to offer the best software environment for developers, and Litespeed was a bad choice for our customers," said Rodney Giles, CEO & Founder, Eleven2.
