Emic Networks announced the availability of version 2.0 of Emic Application Cluster (EAC) for Apache. For organizations that are running business-critical applications on Apache and MySQL® platforms, EAC enables consolidation of servers for better control, improving the excellent total cost of ownership characteristics already provided by these platforms. As a result, organizations that use EAC will have greater assurance of business continuity when they run applications on the Apache or MySQL platforms.
EAC for Apache combines multiple, physical Apache web servers, allowing them to function as one logical, high performance and fault tolerant web server. This approach takes full advantage of available resources by balancing the workload between clustered nodes, delivering almost linear scalability as nodes are added to the cluster. With EAC for Apache, organizations can easily predict the cost of scaling up web services to the level of an enterprise-class system, resulting in a higher degree of confidence that the web services will continue to perform well as they scale up.
Version 2.0 of EAC for Apache offers a newly designed Cluster Manager Console to administer and control either local or remote clusters. The Cluster Manager Console is shared with EAC for MySQL, giving users the option of controlling both Apache and MySQL environments on the same server, while providing complete statistical information about the server in real time as it performs. These features of EAC for Apache provide organizations a clustering solution that is easier to implement and cost-effective, delivering performance, scalability load balancing, fault tolerance and continuous availability, as well as centralized management.
"As an official MySQL and Emic distributor in Japan, we find EAC simplifies deployment of mission critical applications," says Satoshi Tatsuoka, SoftAgency Co. Ltd. "EAC provides the standard for highly available database services. We recommend EAC to our clients because it integrates well into existing environments and meets strict uptime and performance requirements. We have good experience in selling and supporting EAC for MySQL and are pleased to offer EAC for Apache to Japanese customers."
"Users will enjoy the ease and control of EAC for Apache 2.0 especially when pairing it with EAC for MySQL, allowing them to facilitate both servers with a single control manager," says Kari Honkanen, CTO of Emic Networks. "When horizontally scaling web applications, EAC provides the best price/performing Lintel (Linux/Intel)-based cluster platforms, economically scaling across all platform environments from small and medium up to high-end servers."
EAC for Apache 2.0 is available today, starting at $1,495. Emic customers who have purchased annual support agreements from the company will be upgraded to this new version free of charge.
