Equinix, Inc. the leading provider of network-neutral data centers and Internet exchange services, today announced that Kosaido Co., Ltd. has deployed the operations for its new motion picture distribution service in the Equinix Tokyo Internet Business Exchange center.

Kosaido provides high-quality movie distribution services utilizing XVD™(eXtended-play Video Disc), the latest high-quality/high-compression technology. It provides a movie format with smaller data size than current platforms while maintaining image quality, enabling users to enjoy high-quality movies without a special player or adding hardware to an existing PC. Content distributors can also leverage this technology to safely and accurately distribute their products over the Internet.

"With regard to the Internet presentation method in the broadband era, we recognize that movie distribution is entering the practical usage phase," said Mr. Taichi Hayashi, Assistant GM of Kosaido.
