Allows access to virtual desktops running on Parellels Virtuozzo Containers.
Ericom Software, a provider of
Application Access and Virtualization solutions, today announced that its
PowerTerm WebConnect now provides access to virtual desktops running on
Parallels Virtuozzo Containers, an OS-level server virtualization technology
that partitions the underlying operating system into multiple isolated
containers, so that many workloads or virtual desktops can be run simultaneously
on the same physical box.
The company states that desktop virtualization offers organizations
numerous benefits such as desktop management, application compatibility, and
reduced desktop power consumption and space requirements. Together, PowerTerm
WebConnect and Parallels Virtuozzo Containers accelerate the delivery of virtual
desktops and its benefits for the organization, claims the company. It says that
it's Desktop Virtualization and Presentation Virtualization solution, PowerTerm
WebConnect, provides secure and managed access to virtual desktops, Windows
Terminal Servers, Blade PCs and legacy host systems.
Eran Heyman, Ericom Founder and CEO commented, "Ericom and Parallels can
now offer organizations a comprehensive platform for desktop virtualization. The
intuitiveness of the combined solution expedites virtual desktop deployments –
allowing organizations to quickly leverage the capabilities and cost-savings of
a virtualized desktop environment. We provide the flexibility of having VDI
hosted internally by the IT department or externally by a third party service
provider."
"This partnership enables us to further meet the needs of organizations
interested in reducing their total cost of desktop ownership while simplifying
management, support and protection of their computing environment," said
Serguei Beloussov, Parallels CEO. "Parallels Virtuozzo Containers delivers up
to three times the number of virtual desktops per physical server versus a
hypervisor-based VDI solution, making it a far more cost-effective solution."
