FreeSSL (www.freessl.com) announced that it will offer Thawte customers a free one-year SSL server certificate if they renew or replace their current Thawte certificate with a RapidSSL certificate.

RapidSSL is a product that includes a 128-bit StarterSSL certificate which is a single-root install along with customer service.

Paul Tourret, vice president of sales for FreeSSL.com claims that Thawte customers have been flocking to FreeSSL.com to experience a faster, more automated issuance process for SSL certificates -- at a significantly better price.

If a customer has a valid non-expired Thawte certificate, FreeSSL.com will give that customer a free one-year RapidSSL certificate. RapidSSL is normally priced at $99.00 (U.S.) for a one-year certificate. Multi-year discounts are available on 2 or 3 year certificates.
