Globat (globat.com), a Web hosting provider, announced a partnership with DomainsAreFree (domainsarefree.com) to offer registration of .com, .net, .org, .biz, .info, and .us domain names for a revolutionary $3.99 per year flat fee.
"With Globat.com, we have succeeded in giving our customers a high level of service and reliability coupled with a low monthly rate," said Globat.com CEO, Ben R. Neumann. "Now we want to allow anybody who wants to register a domain name without a web site to experience our low prices and high level of service too."
As of June 2004, most registrars are charging between $7.99 and $35.00 for a single year of domain registration, making Globat's pricing the most attractive in this highly competitive industry. Customers will also have the option of registering their domain name for free, with the purchase of any annual or biennial Globat.com Web hosting package, starting at $90 for a year for the Gigabyte package which includes 2 Gigabytes of web space and 60 Gigabytes of bandwidth.
DomainsAreFree.com offers customers a number of optional add-ons for their new domain names including spam filtering, domain forwarding, a customizable business card contact page, as well as e-mail forwarding. Globat.com says that it expects its no-nonsense price plans for domains and hosting to encourage a lot of new users to buy domains of their own for e-mail and Web hosting, rather than rely on impersonal domain names tied to Web mail and some cheap Web hosting providers.
