Equinix, Inc., the leading provider of network-neutral data centers and Internet exchange services, and IBM today announced that IBM has expanded its relationship with Equinix and will begin operating within Equinix's neutral Internet Business Exchange (IBX) center in Singapore in a multi-year, multi-million dollar agreement.
Consistent with its presence in Equinix's U.S. data centers for the past three years, IBM will leverage its presence within Equinix's Singapore center to deliver secure and reliable operations for its enterprise customers. Equinix's facilities offer a high-performance data center environment for outsourced IT operations, as they feature redundant power, multiple layers of security, access to an aggregation of networks and service providers, and the flexibility to rapidly expand operations. The expanded relationship with Equinix will enable IBM to offer enterprises in Singapore local access to IBM solutions, such as hosting, disaster recovery, technology and outsourcing services.
"Through Equinix, IBM will offer enterprise customers in Asia a wide array of e-business services, managed service solutions and IT outsourcing," said Francis Fong, General Manager, Strategic Outsourcing for IBM Global Services, Singapore. "IBM has seen tremendous success in the region and we require the highest quality services to meet the demands of our growing enterprise base. Equinix's unique network-neutral model combined with world-class data center operations also allow us to continue to expand our service offerings in Singapore which is an important market for IBM."
"Leading enterprises look to IBM Global Services for their expertise and high-performance e-business solutions," said Phil Koen, head of Equinix Asia Pacific. "We are pleased to offer IBM an infrastructure both in the U.S. and now in Singapore in support of IBM's e-business and Outsourcing service offerings for their customers' business operations. This important win underscores IBM's confidence in the Equinix partnership long term and demonstrates our ability to make Asia an easy extension for our customers as we continue to grow our key customer relationships."
