Names Doug Brent to the new position of Chief Operating Officer based in the Marina Del Rey office
ICANN, announced
yesterday that
Doug Brent has been appointed to the new position of chief operating
officer. This position is key to continuing to improve ICANNs
operational effectiveness.Doug will be responsible for finance, human resources, IANA, administration, conferences, and compliance as well as policy.
He will be based in the Marina Del Rey office.
The new COO has a twenty-five year record of management and
leadership in high technology companies in Silicon Valley. Most
recently, he was CEO of Packet Design Inc., an innovator of network
routing and traffic analysis solutions and led the company from its
inception through commercial deployment of its products in some of the
largest carrier and enterprise networks in the world. Prior to that, he
was Chief Operating Officer of Packet Designs research company
predecessor.
His previous positions also include vice president of
engineering and acting as CEO at Andes Networks, and vice president of
engineering at Whistle Communications before joining Packet Desing. When IBM acquired Whistle, he
joined IBM as general manager for small business services, Global Small
Business Division, says the organisation.
