12th August 2010
European enterprises operating in Sweden assured of data security with the company.
Interoute, a telecom provider, today announced that it has obtained ISO 27001 certification of its data center in Stockholm. According to the company, the internationally recognized security management standard provides assurances to enterprises that it is committed to providing secure solutions for their critical data. Stockholm is the company's fifth data center to attain certification to the ISO 27001 standard or national equivalents, after Amsterdam, Berlin, Geneva and Munich. It states that security management is critical to organizations in today's increasingly hostile ICT environment, which can represent significant cost and risk to corporate IT assets. The company ensures the security of the data held by its managed hosting solution through application and continuous monitoring of ISO 27001 security controls. Through a combination of ISO 27001 security and ITIL service management best practices, it delivers secure and quality outsourced data solutions across its network infrastructure in the ground to the managed hosting solutions in the cloud.
The company further states that it offers a full portfolio of managed hosting and security solutions to enterprises, providing dedicated capacity and protected transmission products, MPLS VPN, DDoS protection, firewalls, Intrusion Detection and Protection Services, as well as secure managed hosting solutions. It has adopted and integrated the ISO 27001 and ITIL best practices to maintain our security and quality objectives for our customers. These controls are integrated across our entire product portfolio and operations processes. It explains that malicious activity and opportunities for data loss are rising. The company is committed to providing solutions that will protect enterprises from these security risks. It provides valuable insight into malicious activity on the internet through the Interoute Internet Barometer. The security barometer collects data from 22 high performance sensors built into the core of the European Internet, logging the source, destination and type of malicious activity, to provide organizations with valuable insight to help them defend against attacks on their network. The company adds that its ISO 27001 certifications will be expanded to include the Geneva Security Hosting Operations Center in September 2010. "More and more businesses outsource critical corporate data and applications to managed hosting solutions. But, to do this, they must have the right level of assurances around the availability and security of that data," said Joe Stevens, Operations Risk Management, Director at Interoute. "Our ISO 27001 based security management system provides an independently audited assurance of our security controls and processes. We operate Europe's largest next generation network, and provide secure managed hosting solutions across the continent to leading corporations. We understand the importance and requirements to protect data in this environment."
