Acquisition establishes Interoute as one of the foremost Pan-European suppliers of managed hosting and communications solutions, claims the company.
Interoute, a telecom provider, recently announced that it has entered into an agreement with VIA NET.WORKS, Inc., a provider of business communication solutions to SMEs in Europe and the U.S., to acquire all of the company's operations in Europe.
Under the terms of the agreement, Interoute will acquire all VIA NET.WORKS operations in Spain, France and Germany, in addition to all PSINet Europe operations in Germany, France, Belgium, Netherlands and Switzerland.
Combined with Interoute's existing co-location and connectivity portfolio, this acquisition establishes Interoute as one of the foremost Pan-European suppliers of managed hosting and communications solutions specifically designed for enterprise customers, claims the company. Current customers of both Interoute and VIA NET.WORKS will be able to take advantage of an increasing range of services delivered over Interoute's network.
Interoute's Executive Chairman James Kinsella commented, "Not only does this acquisition enable us to add thousands of new enterprise customers to the Interoute network, but it provides them with stability and continuity after some turbulent times. The integration of the VIA NET.WORKS business will further strengthen Interoute's position as a leading provider of services to European enterprise customers and continue our track-record of expansion."
