Creates approximately 700m˛ of additional equipped space.
Interxion, a European provider of carrier-neutral data centres, this week announced that it has completed the expansion of its Brussels data centre, creating approximately 700m˛ of additional equipped space. The new space, much of which has already been reserved, brings the total amount of equipped space available in the company's data centre in the Zaventem area of Brussels to approximately 2,500m˛.
This expansion will service a significant increase in demand from enterprise customers in Brussels for highly secure, outsourced IT and telecommunications hosting facilities with access to multiple carrier networks, claims the company.
The company articulates that in addition to increasing the total amount of equipped space in the data centre, power and cooling upgrades will enable Interxion customers to install and operate high-density equipment configurations with up to 20kW of power load per cabinet, following a recent power capacity upgrade to 5MW.
"This expansion keeps us ahead of the growing demand from clients in Belgium, with sufficient room to spare for new business generation in the coming months," said Jo Mariens, MD of Interxion Belgium. "Interxion's innovative modular approach to data centre design enables us to upgrade new space quickly, while still providing the latest power and free air-cooling infrastructure – creating an environment conducive to energy-efficient high density computing."
