Expands current domain name management capabilities for corporate clients.
Iron Mountain Incorporated, a provider of records and information management services, today announced that its Intellectual Property Management business unit has gained ICANN accreditation as a registrar of domain names.
Iron Mountain's existing domain name clients include companies such as Allergan, Inc. and Armstrong World Industries, Inc. These companies outsource their domain name records management functions to acquire, manage and enforce the use of domain names and other intellectual property online. According to the company, ICANN accreditation will allow them to further automate this process and provide greater flexibility for entering new markets.
The company works with its clients to establish and enforce domain name policies across multiple business units, which includes auditing, validating and cleaning up existing domain name portfolios, transferring them into Iron Mountain management and acquiring new domain names, managing the portfolio and enforcing their use.
"In addition to all the authoritative country-specific registries where we are already accredited, as an ICANN accredited registrar, Iron Mountain will now be able to enhance its ability to directly insert and manipulate records with each authoritative generic and sponsored top-level domain registry, such as the popular dot com and the upcoming new dot eu, dot jobs and dot travel domains," said Jeffrey Johnson, senior vice president and general manager of Iron Mountain's Intellectual Property Management business unit.
