Acquires additional data center in Zurich to accommodate growth from enterprise markets and provide expansion for its TIX Internet Exchange.
IXEurope plc, a data center outsourcing company, today announced that it has acquired an additional data center in Zurich to accommodate strong growth from the Internet and enterprise markets and to provide expansion for its successful TIX Internet Exchange.
It says that the acquisition and capital expenditure costs are expected to be less than £0.3m and will be spent in 2006.
Located within two kilometres of the existing Zurich1 and Zurich2 IXDatacentres, Zurich3 will become IXEurope's fourth facility in Switzerland and thirteenth across Europe. The facility has multiple fibre optic connectivity from Swisscom, Sunrise, COLT, EWZ and Litecom, and adds around 300 m2 net capacity.
Guy Willner, Chief Executive Officer of IXEurope comments: "We have a great position in the Swiss market both in Geneva and Zurich and are pleased to be building on this. This latest growth step allows us to extend our successful TIX Internet Exchange which already connects over 60 ISPs into the Swiss market."
