New versions of McAfee LinuxShield and McAfee NetShield support the latest Linux and NetWare products from Novell.
McAfee, Inc., a provider of intrusion prevention and security risk management, yesterday announced the availability of new versions of its McAfee LinuxShield and McAfee NetShield for NetWare anti-virus solutions.
McAfee provides virus protection to Open Enterprise Server, the latest versions of SUSE LINUX Enterprise Server-based operating systems, and Novell NetWare. By supporting the latest Linux and NetWare products from Novell, McAfee is investing in a multi-platform system security portfolio. With McAfee LinuxShield and McAfee NetShield for NetWare, users of the latest Novell platforms are secured from the latest threats and exploits, claims the company.
McAfee LinuxShield and McAfee NetShield for NetWare are both based on the McAfee scan engine. Features of both solutions include On-Access scanning, which helps monitor systems for new attacks, updates, heuristic and generic detection, and detailed online help. Both solutions work with McAfee ePolicy Orchestrator (ePO). McAfee NetShield for NetWare and McAfee LinuxShield are both Novell certified. In addition, LinuxShield has received VB100, CheckMark and ICSA certifications.
"As more and more malware is created to run on multiple platforms, it is important for customers to know they can turn to a single vendor for complete, multi-platform protection," said Steve Crutchfield, director of product marketing at McAfee, Inc. "McAfee continues to demonstrate that we are committed to providing malware protection on all major operating systems and for customers that have deployed a heterogeneous IT environment."
