Completed the SAS 70 Type I examination; also currently pursuing a SAS 70 Type II examination for its data centers.
MCI, Inc., today announced that it has successfully completed the SAS 70 Type I examination of its data centers and their operating environments.
The examination, performed by Ernst & Young, addressed the suitability of MCI's design of controls as well as the successful implementation of these measures within its data center processes as of April 30, 2005. Areas of examination for MCI's data centers included physical access to facilities, logical access to systems including multi-layered security, network services operations and performance, and environmental controls.
"MCI is dedicated to delivering standard-setting hosting and data storage services to our enterprise customers," said Joe Crawford, Vice President of Hosting Services, MCI. "The successful completion of our SAS 70 Type I examination further underscores MCI's commitment to achieving excellence through controlled processes and high quality metrics for security and reliability."
MCI is currently pursuing a SAS 70 Type II examination for its data centers, slated to be finished by year's end. The completion of the SAS 70 Type II examination will further assist MCI customers with their Sarbanes-Oxley compliance as it relates to the operational processes and systems within the data centers, claims the company.
