The new version automatically adjusts safety and security settings to help protect users as they explore the web.
AOL Canada, Inc., a subsidiary of America Online, yesterday announced the launch of the Netscape 8.0 Web browser, which automatically adjusts safety and security settings to help protect users as they explore the web.
Netscape 8.0 constantly locates thousands of suspected virus, scam, or spyware sites and automatically adjusts its security settings and rendering engine to help protect the user from unsafe sites. The browser features easy access to multiple web mail accounts, integrated search, up to 10 custom toolbars using the multibar feature, Yellow Pages, encrypted and managed web site form information and passwords and auto-login for favourite web sites.
The Canadian English version of Netscape 8.0 will be available on June 6 and the French version will be on the market June 20. Upon download, the Netscape.ca portal will be set as the default home page as part of the Canadian content experience.
"Netscape 8.0 provides a safer Web browsing experience with built-in safety features and a uniquely Canadian experience," said Steven Koles, GM, Netscape and AOL Enhanced Services, AOL Canada Inc. "The extra step to integrate Canadian features further supports AOL's commitment to safety and support for a uniquely Canadian experience online."
