Network Solutions, today announced that it has launched WatchDog Security Product, a Web site security service designed to protect online business owners and customers. It states that a Web site security service is aimed at monitoring Web sites for known vulnerabilities and performance problems.

It explains that WatchDog is a comprehensive security package for Web site monitoring, which features three components, including Web Site Vulnerability Scanning, Web Site Performance Monitoring, and a Certification Seal. Working together, these three elements monitor vulnerabilities, availability and performance, and build customer trust and confidence.

The company states that Web site vulnerability scanning detects existing site security holes that can be entry points for hackers. It can also detect whether hackers have already compromised a Web site. When a vulnerability is detected this feature sends alerts via e-mail or text message and stores a history of these reports in the customer's Account Manager, adds the company.

It articulates that Web site performance monitoring lets customers know when their Web sites are unavailable or downloading slowly by tracking Web site uptime and Web page load times. This Web site monitoring feature downloads Web sites approximately every five minutes from numerous locations around the world to track overall performance, including the performance of hosting providers. Further if a Web site is down or not performing optimally, customers are sent alerts via e-mail or text message. Customers also receive weekly reports detailing their site's performance.

WatchDog also offers a visible certification seal that dynamically displays the date of the last successful vulnerability scan. This seal offers peace of mind and trust, assuring visitors that the site they are visiting has been scanned for vulnerabilities, claims the company.
