Qlusters, Inc., the enterprise cluster management company, today announced it has joined the Data Center Markup Language (DCML) Organization. The DCML Organization is an industry wide collaborative effort chartered with driving the DCML specification – the first vendor neutral standard to bring IT system interoperability and utility computing to data centers.
DCML (Data Center Markup Language) provides the first specification that provides a structured model & encoding to describe, construct, replicate, and recover data center environments and elements. Using DCML, companies now have a standard method to enable data center automation, utility computing, and system management solutions to exchange information about the data center environment to make the vision of automated computing a reality.
“As a leader in enterprise cluster management, Qlusters brings DCML a unique perspective on large data center requirements.” said Moshe Bar, Founder and Chief Technology Officer of Qlusters Inc. “By contributing to an organization dedicated to IT system interoperability, we hope to assist in the progress of standards in the evolution of utility computing, a critical new development in IT systems management.”
The lack of standards in today’s data center environment has resulted in poor service quality, limited visibility into current data center operations, and higher costs for IT organizations. By joining other industry leaders at DCML in data center automation, systems management, monitoring and metering, and outsourcing, Qlusters will assist DCML efforts to reduce the complexity and cost of data center management.
Enterprise cluster management is an integral part of utility computing, an emerging paradigm for IT systems management. Utility computing is the ability to provide computing as a ubiquitous service, adapting to changing user needs. With ClusterFrame, Qlusters harnesses computing resources to provide a manageable, dynamically scalable and highly available data center for both hardware and applications.
About Qlusters
Founded in 2001, Qlusters, Inc. delivers ClusterFrame enterprise cluster management software that optimizes computing resource use for enterprise Linux applications. ClusterFrame provides policy-based management, high availability, and scalability services to meet dynamic application needs. In August 2003, ClusterFrame was recognized at LinuxWorld as a Product Excellence Award finalist for “Best Cluster Solution”. ClusterFrame reduces administrative overhead by using policy-based management to efficiently
deploy compute resources across applications. For mission-critical applications, ClusterFrame provides high availability at low cost through both hardware and application failover. ClusterFrame scalability services ensure that applications seamlessly scale at times of peak resource demand. Qlusters is headquartered in Palo Alto, California, with regional offices in New York City and Tel Aviv, Israel.
