Open source technology conference to be held this week in Boston.

R1Soft, a developer of Continuous Data Protection products for Linux and Windows, today announced its Gold level sponsorship of the fourth annual Red Hat Summit, the premiere open source technology conference, to be held this week in Boston, Massachusetts.

The company explains that at the show, it will promote its CDP Server for Linux, which is a near-continuous backup software available for Linux servers. It uses a kernel level backup technology it developed, thereby increasing savings and efficiency. This is significant in a world where a Linux server backup can typically take hours or days to complete without R1Soft's CDP technology, it adds.

It says that it will host "The Future of Linux Server Backup: Near-Continuous Data Protection," an education session on Wednesday, June 18, for conference attendees. It will discuss serious challenges posed to system administrators due to rapid data growth. The session will provide an overview of backup techniques for Linux servers and demonstrate how Continuous Data Protection technology (CDP) is the future of Linux server backup and restore.
