Company to showcase its server backup software for state and local government at Government Technology Conference.

R1Soft, a developer of Continuous Data Protection, today announced that it will showcase its server backup software for state and local government at this year's Government Technology Conference (GTC) Southwest, to be held next week in Austin, Texas.

The company explains that its backup technology was developed to replicate and synchronize Windows and Linux servers on a near-continuous basis, all while reducing the performance impact of backup operations on busy servers. It avers that now it is available directly to state and local government.

''We're one of the few software companies that actually saw sales increase in the fourth quarter of 2008, and it's no surprise. As organizations everywhere are required to do more with less we have found customers are purchasing R1Soft to save money on their backup software maintenance expenses,'' said David Wartell, vice president of R1Soft Division, BBS Technologies. ''Our customers are using R1Soft CDP to replicate and synchronize recovery points every 15 minutes from their Windows and Linux servers to disk. They then use their existing tape backup software to archive files into tape. This means instead of putting licenses of Veritas or Symantec backup software on every server, they only need enough Veritas or CA software to archive data from R1Soft CDP to tape. It can be a substantial cost savings.''
