AT&T will provide VPN, enabling Snap-on to integrate its European network of 19 locations; also strikes deal with Littelfuse Inc.
AT&T Inc. yesterday announced that it has won a three-year global networking services contract from Snap-on Inc.,
a provider of professional tools, diagnostics and equipment, to support
its growing global business. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.
AT&T will provide an Internet Protocol Virtual Private Network
(IP VPN) enabling Snap-on to integrate its European network of 19
locations across France, Germany, the Netherlands, Portugal, Spain,
Sweden and the United Kingdom. The AT&T solution also paves the way
for Snap-on to evolve to a converged voice and data-networking platform
for future IP applications.
"AT&T offered us a high-quality solution that complies with our
business continuity and connectivity needs," said Jeanne Moreno,
Snap-on Vice President and Chief Information Officer. "AT&T's
networking expertise and reliability, allows us to focus on our core
business of serving our customers more effectively and efficiently."
AT&T also announced, in the meanwhile, that it has won a
three-year, $1.8 million networking contract from Littelfuse Inc., one
of the nation's leading manufacturers of electrical components and
circuit protection products.
AT&T will provide a global IP VPN to support Littelfuse's
day-to-day operations. The network, based on AT&T's Multi-Protocol
Label Switching (MPLS) platform, also provides the data communications
backbone for Littelfuse's planned migration from traditional phone
services to VoIP technology.
