Ordering and installing the new OS is available to new and existing customers.

SoftLayer, a hosting provider, has announced the immediate availability of all four of the new Windows Server 2008 Editions as options in its full line of dedicated server operating systems. Ordering and installing the new OS is available to new and existing customers and fully automated through the company's online tool and customer portal.

The company mentions that with this new release, Microsoft has significantly enhanced its industry-leading Windows Server platform. The Web Edition has significant enhancements, now comparable to the Standard Edition of Windows 2003.

"The new features delivered by Microsoft combined with our industry-leading customer portal will greatly increase both the access and control of our customers' servers," said Andrew Maten, Director of IT Systems for Microsoft Products at SoftLayer. "We will continue rolling out more versions and options of this exciting new OS over the coming months."
