Provides an alternative for clients who might normally seek a low-end dedicated server or high-end VPS.
SSA Host, a web hosting provider, today announced that it has introduced semi-dedicated servers to its product line, offering a bridge hosting solution between traditional virtual hosting and dedicated servers.
The company explains that by minimizing the number of clients hosted on each node and maximizing system resource allotments per user, semi-dedicated servers use virtualization technology to offer a virtual private server hosting solution that can be likened to a dedicated server, without the increased costs. The hardware base of each semi-dedicated server node is comprised of enterprise-class technology, with dual core, dual processors, RAID 10 data storage configurations, and the Virtuozzo virtualization technology, claims the company.
"Semi-Dedicated hosting introduces an attractive alternative for clients who might normally seek a low-end dedicated server or high-end VPS. With our Semi-Dedicated plans, we're targeting clients who don't need to modify their Linux kernel but do want the relative security of a private hosting environment," said Kristopher Jordy, owner of SSA Host parent company Sirkels & Squares Alternative. "Beyond the cost-savings of a Semi-Dedicated server, the technology also reduces our carbon footprint by further maximizing the resource utilization of each piece of hardware. It's 'green' technology, and it's good business."
