Telehouse Europe Completes First Phase of Upgrades
13th December 2007
Improved hosting environment with power and cooling infrastructure to reduce the risk of downtime.
Telehouse Europe, a colocation facilities provider, today announces the completion of major UPS upgrades worth £7.2 million at the company's London Docklands North and Metro sites. Through enhancing its data centre facilities, the company belives that it will be able to offer new and existing customers an improved hosting environment and the latest power and cooling infrastructure to reduce the risk of downtime.
The company also states that the installation of ten new uninterrupted power supply units across both the Docklands and Metro sites has significantly increased the total power load from 3.2MVA to 15MVA. It futher states that the new UPS systems have allowed them to provide higher power and cooling density to 9,100 ft² of data suites in the Docklands North building.
The company also embarked upon other major infrastructure upgrade projects representing a further capital investment of £3.3 million, which are due to be completed by mid 2008. It stated that the projects include the installation of additional generators and maintenance transformers. It further claims that on completion, it will have eleven 2MW generators at its Docklands site with a rotating capacity of 22MW. In addition to ensuring a continuous power supply, the maintenance transformers will allow critical and essential power to be transferred separately during maintenance of existing transformers. This will provide a greater flexibility in company's transformer maintenance work, often unseen by the customer, and help to preserve a smooth operation of data centre facilities by mitigating potential risks of power outages.
"Over the last 18 years, Telehouse has established itself as a leading provider of colocation services and has built a proven reputation for delivering the most sophisticated data centre facilities to our customers," said Bob Harris, technical service director, Telehouse Europe. "This upgrade has made significant improvements to our infrastructure which will show our customers the commitment we have to the efficient running of their businesses. Eradicating downtime and providing continuous power is a long term goal and this is a major step forward in achieving this."
