Media delivery network picks Telehouse's NYIIX exchange point to peer with enterprises and carrier companies.
TELEHOUSE America, a provider of colocation, peering, and communications solutions, recently announced its partnership with Limelight Networks, Inc., a content delivery online network for media and entertainment.
According to the company, Limelight is the first to utilize NYIIX's new remote switch at 111 8th Avenue and its 10GigE interface speed, and this is the first 10GigE interconnect to Limelight's content delivery network. Limelight Networks provides distribution and downloads for companies, such as DreamWorks LLC, NPR, ABC Radio Networks, and IFILM. They now have the potential to peer with hundreds of enterprise and carrier companies through the NYIIX seamless fabric connecting 25 Broadway, 111 8th and 60 Hudson Street, claims the company.
"The demand for the rich media we distribute goes beyond the capabilities of OC12 and OC48 carrier to carrier peering cross connections and the limitations within the carrier networks," said Nathan Raciborski, Chief Network Architect, Limelight Networks. "NYIIX's 10Gige interface speed offers us a significant step up in our ability to meet our clients' needs. Our strategy is to convert our 1GigE links to 10GigE wherever possible and to be ready to quickly take advantage its successor - most likely 40GigE - when it becomes available."
