Adds new Xeon server to its Planet Alpha line of dedicated servers.
The Planet, a privately held dedicated hosting company, today announced the addition of a new high-performance server to its Planet Alpha line of dedicated servers. Available immediately, the company claims that the Xeon 5405 features the largest memory and storage capacity among single-processor servers, offering customers a solution for their hosting requirements at an economical price.
It articulates that with a 5000-sequence Xeon processor, the server easily supports database, e-mail and web server applications. Available in both SATA and SAS configurations, the Xeon 5405 is a single-processor Planet Alpha server that holds up to six storage drives. It claims that this server is equipped with RAM capacity up to 32GB, with larger configurations available that provide customers the flexibility to design the solution that best meets their requirements.
"Customers depend on us to offer the technology that best meets their business needs," said Urvish Vashi, general manager for dedicated servers. "They have expressed a requirement for a powerful and reasonably priced single-processor server, and the Xeon 5405 fits the bill perfectly. It provides increased server storage capacity – always a precious commodity – which eliminates the extra processor they often don't need. With this new offering, we're expanding on our promise to give customers the power to choose the solution that's right for them."
