New web site addition offers discounted servers that come from their six SAS 70 Type II-certified data centers.
The Planet, a privately held dedicated hosting company, today launched a permanent addition to its web site that provides customers with value for their IT infrastructure planning. Known as the Planet Alpha Bargain Bin, this new real-time searchable repository features overstocked and clearance dedicated servers in a variety of configurations, claims the company.
The company explains that the Bargain Bin servers are selected from the Planet Alpha dedicated server fleet, and they continuously rotate based on availability, customer demand and data center space. Customers who visit the Bargain Bin can search for servers by processor and drive-controller type, hard disk space, memory capacity and price. The servers come with the company's full range of software options, including operating system and control panel choices. In addition, it says that every server purchased from the Bargain Bin is backed by its Service Level Agreement, 24/7 support, and network and data centers.
"We have more than 22,000 customers worldwide, so The Planet's size and scale allow us to purchase thousands of name-brand servers at preferred discount pricing," said Urvish Vashi, The Planet's general manager for dedicated servers. "Many of these servers are now available at even deeper discounted rates in the Bargain Bin, and they come from each of our six SAS 70 Type II-certified data centers. Customers still receive the world-class service and support they expect from The Planet, backed by our enterprise-class network."
