The Planet, a
dedicated hosting company, today announced the availability of the Dell
PowerEdge 2900 based on Intel's new Clovertown quad-core technology. It
will be made available in the company's six data centers in both
Houston and Dallas.
The Dell PowerEdge 2900 offers quad-core
Intel Clovertown 5310
processors, 8GB FBDIMM RAM, 10 hard disk drives configured as 2 – 15K
73GB RAID1, and 8 – 10K 300GB RAID10. The large storage capacity and
high-performance processing power are targeted at multiple dynamic
websites, high-transaction e-commerce sites, databases and massive
multi-player gaming.
Customers may purchase the server through the company's online store, at an introductory price of
$1,099 per month.
