Ubiquity Hosting Solutions Introduces New Tools

22nd June 2006

Webmasters can now connect to the web hosting provider using SSH, allowing the capability to compress and decompress files on the web server.

Ubiquity Hosting Solutions, a Linux hosting provider, on Monday announced two new Linux tools to be added to their web hosting services.

The company says, these tools provide web developers a service within the Linux web hosting industry which has been labeled jailed shell access. With this tool, webmasters are given the authority to connect to the web hosting provider using Secured Shell Handling (SSH), allowing the capability to compress and decompress files on the web server and execute Linux bash scripts and monitor system health.

In addition to SSH, Ubiquity has stabilized the Mono Project's open source tool. Through Mono, Ubiquity has assembled a stable platform for running ASPx scripting from a Linux system – and in turn bridging the gap between Linux and Windows web hosting which otherwise exists.

Chief Technical Officer for Ubiquity, Clint Chapman stated, "Linux is capable of so much more than what most web hosting companies are doing. We decided that the time had come to start delivering the full potential of what we offer".
