VMware Grabs Awards at InfoWorld 2006
VMware, Inc., a virtual infrastructure software company, today announced that VMware Workstation received the InfoWorld 2006 Technology of the Year award in the best desktop virtualization category. In addition, VMware ESX Server and VMware VirtualCenter also received the InfoWorld 2006 Technology of the Year award in the best server virtualization category, marking the second consecutive year that VMware has won this award. InfoWorld's annual Technology of the Year awards identifies significant technologies of the past year that promise to make the impact on enterprise IT strategies and honor the products that exemplify the implementation of those technologies. VMware ESX Server is a virtual infrastructure software for partitioning, consolidating and managing servers in mission-critical environments. Whereas, VMware VirtualCenter is a virtual infrastructure management software for enterprises that want to build cost-effective next-generation computing environments and optimized data centers. VMware Workstation 5.5, the newest release of Workstation, includes support for 64-bit guests, Virtual SMP and Intel Virtualization Technology, making VMware Workstation 5.5 a platform to accelerate the development, testing and support of next-generation applications, claims the company. "We are honored to win these prestigious awards recognizing our ongoing commitment to innovation and excellence," said Brian Byun, Vice President of products and alliances at VMware. "These awards underscore the value of VMware desktop and server virtualization products and the broad support they enjoy from the enterprises that have standardized on them. As we look ahead, we're committed to continue bringing useful and innovative technology to market." |
