Akamai Technologies, Inc., a provider of cloud optimization services, yesterday announced the appointment of Jim Ebzery as Senior Vice President and General Manager, Americas. Based in the company's Cambridge, Mass. headquarters, Ebzery will lead sales, services and marketing operations across the Americas. He reports to Robert Hughes, the company's Executive Vice President of Global Sales, Services and Marketing.
It articulates that Ebzery brings nearly 30 years of executive leadership experience across various high technology disciplines to his role at the company. Most recently, he ran the Security, Management and Operating Platforms business at Novell, where he led the growth of the security business and expansion of their strategic cloud business. He began his career with IBM Corporation where he held multiple sales, marketing and general management positions during a 17-year career.
"Throughout his career, Jim has demonstrated proven leadership and an ability to effectively grow the businesses for which he was responsible," said Hughes. "As Akamai looks to take its growth to the next level, it is crucial to have the right leadership team in place. Jim brings a wealth of knowledge and experience, and a track record of results, to his new role at the company. I look forward to working with him closely as we execute our go-to-market strategy in the Americas, including emerging markets across South America."
"I have had the opportunity to work at global technology leaders as well as startups, and Akamai is one of those rare companies that can effectively combine an entrepreneurial spirit with a stable, billion dollar business," said Ebzery. "There is a tremendous opportunity ahead as companies of all kinds look to take advantage of the trends driving IT today - cloud, mobile, security and media - which will all serve as catalysts for innovation and transformation. It is an exciting prospect to be at the vanguard of these efforts as a member of Akamai."
