1&1 Internet Adds New Datacenter to the List
1&1 Internet, Inc., (1&1) a United Internet subsidiary web hosting company, today announced it will open a new data center in Lenexa, Kansas, a suburb of Kansas City. The company has selected a 55,000 sq.ft. facility that will supply space for 40,000 servers and will accommodate the company's U.S. web hosting client base. The data center is scheduled to open early 2007 and will employ 15 people. Currently, 1&1's web site customers are being hosted in two rented data centers in New York and New Jersey. The new facility in Kansas City will handle all new customers from within the United States and Canada. "Opening another location besides our headquarters in the Philadelphia area underscores the importance of our U.S. business," said Andreas Gauger, Chairman, 1&1 Internet. "1&1 will invest up to $9 million in the Lenexa site this year and several millions more in 2007." "We are pleased to welcome 1&1 Internet's new facility to Kansas," said Secretary of Commerce, Howard Fricke. "To be chosen by the world's fastest-growing Web host truly speaks volumes about the business-friendly climate we have created in Kansas. 1&1 Internet will be a great addition to the Kansas business community, and we look to the company to be a leader for years to come." |
