SiteGround.com, a web hosting company, recently announced that it has started a series of tutorials for open-source CMS, blogs and forums used on its servers.

SiteGround claims that it has chosen this unusual direction as a way to providing a more comprehensive customer care that goes beyond the expert technical support. The idea of these detailed and very basic tutorials is to allow anyone interested in the software, to use it for his/her website. Customers can find the tutorials for Mambo, osCommerce and phpBB online.

"We have many customers that would like to use Mambo, Drupal, Zen cart or something else, but they don't even know how to start and feel helpless. They can always post a ticket and we will give them the solution. Yet, it is much better for them to know how to create a web site by themselves," says Kate Michaels, the Sales Manager. 

Every tutorial is a proprietary compilation. It is certainly based on the official documentation of that software, but has one very big advantage. Each SiteGround tutorial addresses real problems, encountered by SiteGround customers using that software, claims the company. "We invested a lot of time to organize and generalize the problems posted in our Ticketing System. Then we prepared very detailed answers, which are the essence of our tutorials," says Tom Nickolson, the Support Supervisor.
