Section Notes:
An ICANN registrar can gain domains in the following ways:
1) Gain by New (New Domains)
When a client registers a new domain, the registrar gains an
additional domain. This type of gain is termed as Gain by New.
2) Gain by Transfer (Transferred Domains)
When a client decides to shift an already existing domain name from its current
Registrar to another registrar, the new registrar gains an additional domain.
This type of Gain is called Gain by Transfer.
Tip:
Since, Gain by Transfer signifies domains which have shifted from another
Registrar; analysis of this variable also gives us important information
about this registrar's competitors. Please refer to the "Gain by Transfer"
section for further details.
